The 2005 Webbit

Webbit, a Technology and Innovation Fair for business, this year merges with SMAU, taking the name of E-Academy. This fair, with its 4-year evolution, is formed by several areas and provides, for each of them, workshops, certifications, exposition spaces, publications and other types of mechanisms to interact between supply and demand. In the workshop zone training, information and updating speeches will take place, while in the Researh&Development area many enterprises will have the opportunity to propose initiatives, otherwise impossible to know. This new winning formula of the Webbit has aroused a great interest even abroad and allows the main vendors of the ICT sector to present products, solutions and services. The Milan edition expects to host about 40.000 visitors and it will be followed by several satellite events, even abroad. Its aim will be the expression of knowledge and skills value, turning it into a lever for innovation.

Linux World Expo 2005

IDG World Expo and Wireless are proud to announce the second edtion of the 2005 LINUX WORLD EXPO ITALIA. The event is international and it aims to present on the Italian market the most complete solutions, based on this Open Source operative system. The 2005 Linux World Expo Italia puts together a meeting area with an exposition area dedicated to company solutions and e-government initiatives, based on the Linux and Open Source and it represents the only occasion to meet Open Source supply and demand. The event is addressed to all subjects acting on the professional market linked to Linux and Open Source, a great opportunity to present its own company and the news concerning Free Software.

International Conference on tecnology

The first international conference on Open Souce systems will take place in Genova. The aim is the organization of a forum with people interested in Open Source in oder to discuss technical aspects, experiences and tools, to consider the use of Open Source in the private and public fields and to provide information and help to OSS practisings. The convention will include technical speeches, panels, running sessions, tutorials, Phd and an Open Educational Symposium. There will be people coming from industry, Public Administration, Academic environment. the participation to the event will be very useful for practical applications.

Plone Conference 2005 in Vienna

Like the last conferences, this year's conference will focus primarily on the people that make Plone what it is — the developers and contributors to the finished product. In addition to this focus, we will also be adding material to benefit those in business and politics who have adopted Plone within their organizations. As Plone is built on top of the Zope server infrastructure, our success has had the side-effect of attracting tens of thousands of users to the Zope Application Server. For this reason, we will include sessions on not just Plone, but also its supporting technologies, Zope and Python. The conference will last three days and there will be two different tracks - a Tutorial Track for those who would like to learn their first bit about Plone or advance their skills, as well as a Talks Track for those who would rather hear some history, use-cases, and demonstrations of what Plone can do.

Feel of enterprise: new ideas are growing

Turin Province organizes two days on the birth and the development of an enterprise. Turin gives the potential businessmen a free support to make their company get off the ground thanks to the Mip service. On the first day there will be a conference on how and why supporting the birth and the growth of an enterprise and it will include some workshops. On the second day there will be expositions: the aim is to show what the creation of a company means, giving a wide range of ideas and suggestions to people interested in opening an activity of this kind. Companies born with the Mip will have reserved places, classed in theme areas. Redomino will be in the exposition area with a stand concerning innovation, new technology, and multimedia: anybody will receive information on the company activities and the business experience and will also get clarifications and useful suggestions. On the square there will be even the Mip stand, where the service tutors will be at disposal of whoever needs an opinion about their idea.

EuroPython 2005

Europython is an annual conference for Zope and Python communities, which includes developers, designers and business people. This year we have a special focus on people who have no Python experience at all and neophytes.

Euro P.A. 2005

Euro P.A. is the only international exposition promoting a debate between local and central Public Admistration, companies and citizens. During the event the main Associations reprensenting local autonomies will meet the Government to talk about the main topics concerning innovation. The exposition will have a number of stands and free speeches: it will be a unique occasion to take innovative and positive opportunities. The Italian Minister Lucio Stanca presented the 2005 Euro P.A. edition with a letter inviting all subjects involved in the innovation process to become part of it. The entrance is free.

InterNETworking 2005

On next November in Rome will take place the fifth InterNETworking, the conference on communication technology. The event will host several speeches about all aspects of company networks and an exposition area where it will be possible to meet companies. Among the changes in the 2005 edition: a demo area for the companies wanting to make the audience experiment its solutions, the possibility for the speakers to have a direct contact with a large audience and new, more attractive stands. Moreover a whole session on VoIp, the IP telephony and an analysis of some case studies and performances.

Expo e-learning 2005

Promoted by CARID, Ferrara University and "Ferrara Fiere e Congressi", the event is the occasion to meet technology, content, and services supply for the online training and the demand of professional operators of all institutional and professional training levels. Expo e-learning this year will focus on two and a half day and, as usually, it will include exposition and commercial activities and moments of scientific study. The topics, Enterprise and Finance, Public Authority, Health School and Professional Training, University & Long Life Educational, will be gathered in five spinnerets and they will allow an intersectorial comparison. All those concerned can send scientific material according to the discussed topics in form of posters or articles. Contributions will be checked by a scientific commission: those approved will be put into the conference deeds and the most interesting and innovative ones will be invited for a speech in the workshops during the 2005 EXPO e-learning.

Free Software International Conference

On 25th and 26th October 2005, in Spain there will be this event, which aims to prove Free Software is a solid reality as a key instrument to develop Knowledge Society, making ICT universal with a double role, technological and social.

Zope 3 course

This three day course will familiarize developers with Zope 3 software from introductory through advanced concepts. A little qualification on Python programming language is required. It will be demonstrated the flexibility and effectiveness of Zope as an Open Source web development Platform. The course is fee-paying.

Linux Day 2005

Linux Day, a national event regarding GNU/Linux and Free Software, has come to its fifth year. Looking at the great success during the past years, LUGs (Linux Users Group) across Italy are going to organize in their own city a day on Open Source topic. Linux Day will be made of local events, which will follow general guidelines but they will be built up and handled by each group. This event is promoted by ILS (Italian Linux Society), a no-profit association which encourages projects concerning GNU/Linux and Free Software.

2nd Open Source World Conference

On 15th, 16th and 17th February 2006, in Málaga (Spain), under the slogan "Innovation and Freedom", there will be the prosecution of the Mérida event, about social aspects, economic future interests and topics both for developers, and for politicians and businessmen.

Webdays 2005

Webdays 2005, come to its 6th edition, this year will focus on Web 2.0 emerging tools and in particular on social networking: new ways of taking part and innovative tools for information sharing. This event will include, as usually, meeting, challenges, conferences and lessons, to introduce technological news for Public Authority and providers of services for citizens and companies. Webdays 2005 is organized by the city of Turin, in cooperation with Regione Piemonte, CentroScienze, "CSP innovazione nella ICT", CSI-Piemonte, "Compagnia San Paolo" and CRT Foundation.

Plone in Montebelluna

The Zope Italia Association and the "Museo dello Scarpone" Foundation in Montebelluna organised two days for the presentation of Plone. Plone, revolutionizing application for the Web, will be presented as exhaustive as possible, with a very simple introduction, which will not request a specific knowledge to the public, and during the second day, with a range of studies in depth of the topics. Doctor Fabrizio Reale, Redomino's developer, will take part to the conference with two speeches: during the first day, he will show the features and the potentialities of Plone and during the second day, he will explain, how to install Zope and Plone.

Apple Expo 2005 in Paris

Five days to discover all the news coming from Apple world in the biggest Mac exposition in Europe. A way to test the newborns in Apple house, as for example the iPod nano, and to take part into the several free conferences, organized in order to satisfy users and expositors wishes.

MacExpo 2005 in London

MacExpo 2005 will be a truly interactive experience, inspiring visitors be they consumers or professionals to improve their skills and get the most out of all the creative disciplines from digital photography and imaging, digital music and video to design and publishing.

Infobahn Conference in Vercelli

The tenth edition of Infobahn Conference is called "Open Resource, Opportunity without contrasts", and it is oriented to Open Source. In order to get outsiders to know new opportunity offered by technology, the organization will add a rich program of Live-how-to to talks and case studies. During this some Piedmontese researchers and operators involved in the Open Source development will introduce the potential of free software showing common application use for companies.

SMAU 2005

The 2005 edition of SMAU, the greatest Italian event on new technology, will be made of four showrooms: SMAU e-Business - Showroom of Technology and Digital Applications for Business, SMAU e-Government - Showroom of Digital Technology for Citizens, SMAU e-Life, Showroom of the Digital Meeting and Multimedia, SMAU IBTS, International Showroom of Broadcast and Telecommunication, which ideally build up together the "city of innovation". The exhibition aims to introduce to the audience the different benefits of innovation and to prove that new technology is not only easy to use, but can give to anyone and in any kind of field a value added. This year this showroom will be on a new place: the modern "Padiglioni del Portello" of the "Fiera di Milano", which will assure to exhibitors a better availability of spaces and to all visitors a better quality of services.

Creative Commons Italia 2005

Creative Commons Italia 2005 this year will be on topics like audio-video, publishing and music. The event is organized in collaboration with the Italian Document Association (doc.it). Participation is completely free, previously registration on the site.

Redomino at "Porte Aperte all'Innovazione"

During the event "Porte Aperte all'Innovazione", planned in Turin and its province from 21st to 28th October 2005, will take place the conference "Beyond the Internet", organized by the Piossasco MultiMedia centre and the "Alessandro Cruto" Foundation. This meeting will include several talks by companies, which are going to introduce technical innovative solutions for the use of the Internet. Redomino Srl will take part in this event speaking of plone, a web application developed inside an Open Source environment. At the end of the various talks, a short debate will take place, in order to see some topics in depth, and it will be possible to ask questions to the speaker.

Linux Ludus Villafranca

Linux Ludus, the Villafranca (Verona) LUG, has organized a meeting with free entrance, in order to introduce the GNU/Linux Operating System to everyone, who still doesn't know about it. The schedule includes an introduction to the Linux world, the analysis of the different aspects of the software, a comparison among the various distributions and the installation of the Operating System, in order to provide a complete survey of the matter. At the end of the event it is scheduled a space to see the penguin working both on one or two servers, and on other common PCs. A great chance to test GNU/Linux personally.

Com-PA, communication showroom

Com-PA 2005, European showroom of public communication and services to citizens and enterprises, will have a large amount of meetings, addressed to the academic world, to amministration, companies and civil society. This event will be an interesting opportunity to face companies, agencies and administrations and to analyse thoroughly some topics concerning communication, services and innovation inside Public Administration. During the final day, will be awarded administrations and companies proposing the best projects regarding institutional communication and services to citizens and enterprises.

Futurshow 3004

Futurshow comes to its eighth edition and changes concept and recipe, joining the "Three T Theory" thought by the American economist Richard Florida. According to this theory, innovation and development are created with the integration of Technology, Talent and Tolerance. The event chose Milan as capital of the future and infected the whole urban structure: "Fiera di Milano" will host the heart of the exposition of Futurshow, aiming to make a scenographical hit, but the showroom will involve the whole city, dedicating various places of Milan to culture, entertainment, search and education. During the event, will be introduced many projects, surveys, products and services regarding the "possible future". Several partners and sponsors, as the Innovation and Technology Ministry and the Ministry for Arts and Culture. The admittance to Futurshow 3004 is free.

Annual convention of the Top-ix Consortium

The TOP-IX Consortium is composed by 31 members among the main actors of the European economic system and it aims to promote the usage and the development of the broadband infrastuctures on the territory. The Consortium is adressed, above all, to companies and Public Administration. The convention will analyse and discuss the national situation of the combined effects of web and media.

A penguin at the library of Settimo Torinese

The Multimedia Library of Settimo Torinese organizes a meeting to promote free software culture, called "A penguin at school - Open Source on school desks". This event takes place in collaboration with ASM - Azienda Sviluppo Multiservizi of Settimo Torinese, the social cooperative Biblioide@, Glug and Gnug of Turin, Dschola, Le scuole per le scuole.

CeBIT 2006

CeBIT 2006, the most important exposition of computer technology in the world, with more than 475.000 visitors, will take place in Hannover (Germany) from 9 to 15 March 2006.

PyCon 2006

The 2006 Python Conference will take place in February in Texas. This event is especially addressed to developers of this programming language. Taking part at the conference will mean to know the latest news concerning Python world, getting in touch with its great community.

Infosecurity 2006

Infosecurity Italy is the most important Italian event in the field of computer security and Business Continuity. This year this exhibition-conference comes to its second edition with an updated and exhaustive overview of solutions for data, and documents management and security. The event will host several very interesting and technical conferences and workshops, which will take place directly between institutional speakers, market representatives and companies. The conference will be a good occasion to meet potential clients and suppliers and to establish new contacts.

GPLv3: Stallman speaks in Turin

15 years after the release of GPLv2, the General Public Licence, which is the most used licence in the Free Software world, the community is preparing for its new update: the GPLv3. Is there a better way to do that than meeting Richard Stallman, founder of the Free Software Foundation? In fact, on March 18, a conference will take place at the Politecnico of Turin with the purpose of showing the state of things and, at the same time, discussing possible improvements related to legal differences among the various countries. Then, the conference is an occasion not to be missed to get close to Free Software world and in particular to its legal aspect, so less known.

Sorrento Sprint 2007

An early spring sprint at a beautiful location on the Italian coast. The sprint will focus on topics of interest for Plone 3.5. Potential topics include custom membership, extending Plone's use of AJAX, content export/import, and much more.

World Design Capital - Torino 2008

The ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) will elect every two year a city as the World Design Capital.The city of Torino is the first World Design Capital, in recognition of the crucial role Torino and Piemonte play on an international level. It is a great opportunity to design new ways to develop the territory and to renew the city's image from an industrial city to a European city. Torino is proud and thankful to be the first one to win this unprecedented title.
